Describe a trip you made for the school magazine

Two good examples here; one from Sulani about a trip to a museum and one from PaoPao about an activity holiday in the Himalayas.

A Museum Trip

Lots of tourists are visiting our town each year, but have you ever thought of taking part in some of the tourist activities yourself? That’s just what we, year 11, did last week. We took a tourist bus through the center of town and saw all kinds of places. I took photographs of the cathedral and one of the old monuments in the main square.

After we had eaten our packed lunch in astley gardens, we visited the castle museum. We were taken around by a friendly guide who advised us not to try to touch anything but to concentrate on just a few things. He also explained to us that many museums now use modern technology to make the exhibits more interesting. For example, he showed us how to use computers to investigate ideas of what the town looked like in different historical periods.

After our guided tour, Mr Banes let us choose any object in the museum and sketch it. I choose a strikingly beautiful carved door which had caught my attention earlier. After we had finished sketching we went outside again and we climbed the 100 steps to the top of the lookout tower. From such a high point, we had fantastic views over the surrounding area. This was the most memorable part of the trip for me.

If you want to see our town through new eyes, why not take a tourist bus or visit the museum? You're going to be surprised at what you might discover!

An activity holiday in the Himalayas

Recently, I got a chance to go to the Himalayas in Nepal. It was the best trip in my life. Everything was amazing. I also learned many things from the the trip.

I arrived last Monday morning and it was freezing but in the afternoon it got warmer. I went to stay at a local person's house; the house and the local area was very unique because they wanted to conserve their old-styles houses. Also, everyone was so approachable, including my guide.

While staying in the Himalayas, I did so many activities. I got to do a major trek on the Himalayas and when I reached the tourist stop it was stunning; the scenery and the town were covered with snow and it was very pleasing to see that. Furthermore, my guide introduced me to many different museums and interesting places. My favourite place was the museum; there were a lot of ancient exhibits which told me about how they lived in the past.

Overall, the trip was marvelous. For people who like to learn about other cultures, I really recommend this trip because you’ll get to stay with the local people so you’ll see their real culture. Also, there are many must-see museums.
