Summary - Space Cuisine - May/June 2010 Core
Scientists must understand the problems, such as diminished smell and the flow of liquids in the body, caused by gravity. Therefore, food must be firm and flavourful. In addition, due to weightlessness, astronauts need anchors to attach to when eating. Furthermore, they must eat every last morsel otherwise it will end up floating in the spaceship. A final problem is the need for food to have a long shelf-life due to the length of missions. (75 words)
