Television adversely affects children in a number of ways. First, brain growth and the ability to concentrate is diminished. In addition, television viewing becomes a habit which can lead to children doing less exercise and becoming fatter due to inactivity. Furthermore, when TV is taken away from children, they become bored very easily as television viewing has decreased their abilities to be imaginative, to talk to peers and to make their own decisions. Finally, research has linked television viewing to higher levels of depression in children.
